February 8, 2007 at 5:18 pm (Allergy News!, Canada, conferences, education, kids, medical, safety, social issues, USA)

Well, I missed the opportunity to meet some kick-ass Allergy Moms.  Here are some photos and info about ladies who are taking the matter of life-threatening food allergies into their own hands, serving our community and vowing to contribute to a change.

Sara Shannon signing a letter she wrote to Senator Orie on ehalf of “AllergyMoms” back in Oct.

For those of you unfamiliar with Sara Shannon–she is the mother of the young Canadian girl who died of anaphylaxis in the fall of 2003.  The news story broke hearts around the world, and as I hear of it, the girl’s mother is changing lives as an activist to protect other children from a similar fate.

Listen to Sabrina explain life with allergies in the documentary she made about life with severe allergies, at age ten.

  1. Gina said,

You’re the best. Thanks for posting this. I am sure Sara will be delighted.

Every since I first spoke to Sara I *knew* this was a story that could help to enlighten the world. Food allergies are real, they are growing and we have to know how to keep these children safe.

More to come with Sara and the “Promise Team” We are here to help Sara keep her promise to her daughter. Next time, Leslea, you’ll be with us.

Everyone who meets Sara and hears her tell Sabrina’s story, is forever changed. Stay tuned…

    Take care,

Thanks so much for highlighting this conference.

It truly was a remarkable group of women and speaks to the power that we all have to affect change for our children.

We invite any and all to get involved! Just this week, we’ve been contacted by moms (and dads!) who are producers, journalists, lawyers, teachers…who want to leverage their skill sets to help protect all of our “AllergyKids”!

It is so inspiring to witness all of these remarkable people doing so much to make a difference in the lives of our children.

As always, (and with continued inspiration!), with hope for the cure,
