How do you check your Halloween Candy?

Tristan checking his Halloween candy

We got home from the mega-candy-carnival and poured out a huge pile to check through. We thought we were pretty diligent about not taking anything that we were unsure of, or that was unsafe, but I still separated out Mary Janes and various unmarked chocolates and assorted other goodies to take to work and get away from the kids, just in case. I didn’t even know what was in a Mary Jane, but we got about six of them, and they were full of peanuts. Odd!

How did it go for you?

Send me a note, a comment, or a voicemail by going here, and you will be entered in the giveaway contest.  The prizes ARE NOT SEASONAL so it is not too late to enter, okay?

Reaction to Allergy Shots

Reaction to Allergy Shots

If your child reacts like this to allergy shots, go immediately back to the allergist. The serum may need to be adjusted!! You will also want to watch your child closely for a more severe reaction. While anaphylaxis is more commonly associated with food, it can occur with any allergy (beestings, latex, etc are not food!).

Childs Play

I just love this photo I found on flickr. It is gorgeous and well-done, and, hey, ain’t that just like allergies to be floating all around our kids’ faces?

Well, I wanted to thank all of you who have ordered AllergyZone filters so far. I am a true believer–they really do help clear the air in our house.

I’d like to offer you a tip: write the date you installed one on the edge of the filter w/ a Sharpie. That way in 3 mo. you’ll be sure that you’re not jumping the gun–or you’ll realize if you’ve let them go too long without changing.

In our house, I know sometimes Steve and I both attempt to do the same task, and might accidentally throw away a brand-new filter if it weren’t marked properly.

Hopefully today I can add some notes about our new Dyson-ing habit. I believe the air filter + the vac are making a huge improvement in our lives.

Have a great day!

Well, I recorded a “Mailbag Only” version of the podcast last night, so hopefully I will be able to add the intro/exit music that Jackie Blue graciously sent me, and post it over the weekend.

This won’t be a full version of Allergy News, just my attempt to play “catch-up” and get that mailbox cleaned out!

As promised (you haven’t heard this yet, it’s part of the show), here’s the link to the Census Bureau’s release on Halloween, Halloween Candy, the # of kids in our country of age to trick-or-treat, etc.
